The Cautionary Tale of a Curious Balloon - Children’s book
Not that long ago and for a very short time,
Blew a bunch of balloons bounds together with twine.
One balloon was not quite like the others,
She seemed separate and strange to her sisters and brothers.
She was bright and red, wide eyed and well rounded,
But believed that balloons were not born to be grounded.
Our wonderer in waiting wanted more that the most,
To see over the treetops and to soar past the coast,
Or maybe discover of anyone knows,
Where the wind comes from, and then where it goes?
Forlorn and frustrated of feeling deflated,
For some divine intervention she impatiently waited.
And then came the moment (she’d waited so long)
A great gust of wind, and with a whoosh - she was gone.
Farewell everybody, I won’t be gone long,
I’ll be back with tall tales from above and beyond.
She shouted this loudly whilst leaving the ground,
Unaware what goes up doesn’t always come down,
She soared at such speed, without a worry or care,
Forgetting she was made of mostly nothing but air.
