Deeds Not Words - High quality art print

$0.00
High quality art print. Printed on acid free, archival 300 GSM card.

Each print comes hand signed dated and numbered with a personalised greeting.

This print is a reproduction of a hand painted placard carried throughout London as part of the celebrations for the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act. This act gave women the right to vote for the first time and was the culmination of a long, hard won victory for the suffragettes and suffragette movement. The suffragettes were a radical collective who undertook direct action like window-smashing and arson in order to win the right for women to vote. Many were arrested, tried, imprisoned and tortured for their cause. Deeds Not Words was their motto. Today, no matter what our gender, we owe the suffragettes a huge debt of gratitude for their many sacrifices. We should celebrate their victory but also recognise that the struggle for equal rights for women of the world is far from over.
